Playwright Rob Johnston talks about his new play Rid The World based on an unproduced screenplay by Trevor Griffiths about Tom Mann and the 1911 Liverpool Transport Strike that opens next week at The Lowry and ends its short tour at the Unity Theatre in Liverpool.
There are reviews of the opening productions of the year at two theatres in the region: Private Lives by Noël Coward at the Coliseum Theatre in Oldham directed by Robin Herford and Mogadishu by Vivienne Franzmann, one of the winners of the 2008 Bruntwood Playwriting Competition, at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.
We also look at the 2011 Bruntwood which was has just opened for entries and was given its official launch earlier this week.
There is also some news of half term theatrical activities with Library Theatre.
