The Theatre Show

The Theatre Show, 21 July 2011

David Thacker, the artistic director of the Octagon Theatre in Bolton, returns to The Theatre Show to tell us about his third yearlong season at the theatre and also to pay tribute to Robin Pemberton-Billing who is now acknowledged in the programmes as "founding artistic director" for creating the theatre in 1967.

We bring you our last review from the Manchester International Festival 2011: Gerard McBurney's play about Wagner The Madness of an Extraordinary Plan starring Roger Allam as the composer followed by a concert version of Die Walküre played by the Hallé at the Bridgewater Hall.

The what's ons are again dominated by festivals, with the continuation of the Buxton Festival and Buxton Fringe and the opening of the Buxton Puppet Festival and the 24:7 Theatre Festival in Manchester.
